La cerimonia per i Video Music Awards 2013 verrà trasmessa dal Barclay Center di Brooklin il 25 agosto ed oggi sono state svelate le nomination: Justin Timberlake e Macklemore & Lewis  sono i due grandi sfidanti, dato che sono in lizza per 6 premi ciascuno, a seguire Bruno Mars con 4.

Comunque i contendenti in tutte le categorie sono più di 40, perciò lo spettacolo di certo non mancherà.

Il “Monnman” è la storica statuetta consegnata dei VMA e dopo 30 anni è stata ripensata e ridisegnata dall’artista KAWS che ha commentato:

“E’ un oggetto fortemente iconico. Tutti vedono il Moonman e sanno esattamente, e subito, di cosa si tratta. Quando mi hanno parlato per la prima volta di questo progetto ho subito pensato che non volevo qualcosa di completamente nuovo, ma creare qualcosa che fosse immediatamente di KAWS e riconoscibile come Moonman; alla gente deve arrivare subito”

La New Musical Express, conosciuta meglio sotto l’acronimo NME, è una rivista musicale britannica, di uscita settimanale. Specializzata in musica rock, dà ampio spazio a nuove band, segnala gli eventi musicali principali della settimana nel Regno Unito, e contiene una serie di rubriche. La settimana scorsa, questa importante rivista ha pubblicato un articolo con la classifica in cui vengono elencati i 100 brani migliori dal 2000 al 2010:

Il centesimo classificato è  “Apply some pressure” dei Maximo Park. Per quanto riguarda gli altri 99, abbiamo deciso di rendere noti i primi 15 di questa classifica, che sta scatenando non poche polemiche e dissensi:

I 100 brani selezionati dall’NME sembrano avere gusti contrastanti rispetto alla classifica dei 60 album più amati degli ultimi 60 anni, stilata dall’HMV. Se è vero che sono due classifiche diverse, poichè comprendono periodi diversi e generi diversi (singoli vs. album), ci sembra comunque che gli elenchi non coincidano per niente, e che la NME abbia privilegiato la musica americana, e non quella proveniente dal Regno Unito. Chissà cosa ne pensano i Britannici.
